Trust released another track from his upcoming album this week, and it confirms his move to a much more refined sound than the one we heard in his debut a while back. He’s basically packaged everything great about his music a bit better and the result, I feel, is going to be pretty amazing. Hear it below.

I don’t always have enough time to write about every song that I listen to, so I’ve decided to start compiling playlists containing the songs which may have fallen through the cracks as well as a few which I may have already written about. A few days ago, Trust aka Robert Alfons announced his upcoming sophomore album, Joyland, which Alfons describes as “an eruption of guts, eels, and joy”. The first single is like nothing you’ve heard from him before. It’s harder, more polished and a lot more experimental, but still manages to retain the sinister qualities that made Trust so great to begin with. It also helps that Alfons is ridiculously good looking, which is quite prevalent in the shoot he did for i-D Magazine a while ago. New single and photos from the i-D shoot below.

I have a few new remixes to share today. They’re all great in their own way and feature some of my favourite bands ever.

I heard Trust’s album a few weeks ago and it’s still playing in my car. Which for me is quite a big deal because I usually get over things quite quickly. Anyway, they recently toned things down for a remix of Feist’s “Graveyard”. Listen to it below.

RAC can do no wrong in my eyes, even if they’re remixing Bloc Party. I actually like this version more than the original. Deal with it.

Everyone is obsessed with Gotye nowadays. Actually everyone is just obsessed with that one song that I’m not going to talk about. Here is a remix of one of his other songs though. Yes, he has other songs, and they’re also quite nice!

Niki & The Dove is another crowd pleaser that recently got remixed by Body Language.

I’ve been slacking a bit lately – soz. But to make up for it I have a substantial amount of music to share today and first is the video for Justice’s new single, “New Lands”. Now this is a sport I would actually watch.

Gateway Drugs is a Cape Town-based band that I don’t really know a whole lot about. This song is great though. Go Africa.
