The Smiths Are So Indie.

Jaden and Willow Smith just gained a lot more respect from me. Last year Jaden unexpectedly sampled “Lofticries” by Purity Ring in one of the songs off his mixtape, The Cool Cafe, and now his sister, Willow, has released a song which samples “Codex” by Radiohead, in which she abandons rapping to sing like what sounds a lot like Meiko, Sia or some other lesser-known folk-ish singer-songwriter. To be honest I really enjoy both efforts, and kudos to the Smiths for attempting to not stick to the trashy mainstream bullshit that everyone would expect from them.

RAC recently released a couple of new songs. The first is a remix of “Float” by Pacific Air which is very different to their usual stuff, and the second features Liz Anjos is a cover of a Radiohead classic.

RAC (Remix Artist Collective) have been remixing some of the biggest artists for years now, but for the first time ever they’re actually releasing an album of their own. The first single to be released is “Hollywood” and features Penguin Prison. It sounds exactly like an RAC song should and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album. Take a listen.
