Woodkid | “I Love You” Video.
Yoann Lemoine, aka Woodkid, is one of the best music video directors in the business right now. He was responsible for Lana Del Rey’s infamous “Born To Die” and “Blue Jeans” videos (which are probably her best ones) and has been doing even more impressive work for himself. The thing about Woodkid is that his music videos tell a story, and he started off by introducing a number of characters in his first video for “Iron”, which also featured Agyness Deyn. Since then he has focused on a single character out of that original cast and made them the focus of his second, and now third videos. This time around the lead character is the priest played by Matvey Lykov. Up until now, the only downside of his work is that to me, his music seemed to be created to support and intensify his videos, and would not really make sense on their own, but “I Love You” is the first song that I’ve actually wanted to download, and I’m so happy that he’s finally started to make songs with less of a purely cinematic appeal.
