The Smiths Are So Indie.

Jaden and Willow Smith just gained a lot more respect from me. Last year Jaden unexpectedly sampled “Lofticries” by Purity Ring  in one of the songs off his mixtape, The Cool Cafe, and now his sister, Willow, has released a song which samples “Codex” by Radiohead, in which she abandons rapping to sing like what sounds a lot like Meiko, Sia or some other lesser-known folk-ish singer-songwriter. To be honest I really enjoy both efforts, and kudos to the Smiths for attempting to not stick to the trashy mainstream bullshit that everyone would expect from them.
